The Sked is an excellent choice for confined space rescue, vertical rescue, or remote bush rescue. The Sked comes equipped for horizontal hoisting by helicopter or vertical lifting in caves or industrial confined spaces.
Made from a special plastic, the Sked is both flexible and durable, however once a patient is "packaged", the Sked becomes rigid. For patients with suspected spinal injuries, the DHS Spineboard (389GT) or Oregon Spine Splint can be used inside the Sked Stretcher.
The horizontal lifting sling and the large, locking "D" steel karibiner are both rated to 4082kg while the vertical lifting sling has a minimum breaking point of 2388kg.
The Sked stretcher also comes complete with two permanent carry handles on each side and can be fitted with additional webbing handles as needed, allowing the Sked to be carried by up to 8 rescuers.
The stretcher rolls up and is stored in a durable cordura backpack making it very portable at 1m long, 250mm wide and just 9kg in weight. All attachments are stored in the outside pockets of the backpack.
